sports day

Saturday was "sports day"… an important event in AI international life's...

Of course it was pouring with rain on that day, which made it more difficult for us to get up… then we had to get Robin to wear a tracksuit, which was not easy I can assure you… we succeeded in the end when he saw that his dad was wearing one..

The event took place in a school near Roppongi , which had good sports facilities, and especially an indoor gymnasium, very handy on a rainy day….We had to take a taxi, even if it was walking distance, first because we were running late, and second because of the rain….

We got there in time, at the same time as our friends… inside the gymnasium, everybody was getting in the mood, ready to compete!

We were given our colored ribbons and told that we were in the blue team, with the Pourbaix Family. Damian's family was in the red team, and Margaux and Lucie in the green one...

The event started at 10 on the dot, with a warming up dance " jump hip hop dance"… 

Parents and children had to make a huge circle and jump to the right and to the left, do the sandwich, and the roller coster…  it was a lot of fun to watch I can assure you…

Then each class had prepared a dance…

The preschoolers, were the first ones to go. Eugene was, as usual, very energetic, Hinata knew the moves very well and the others were a little shy… Robin knew how to move his hips, and do the free style…

the K4 were also very cute, dancing on the song from Greace ( the film's last song), Eugene joined in their dance ( I must admit I almost did too)!

the K5 did a dance on the song Kung FU Fighting which was also very impressive…

Then it was time to get a little competitive… and the games and races begun.. There were 4 teams ( red, white, blue and green), and in each team there were 10 sub teams of one child and one parent….

Robin and Frank were the first one to go for the first race, called the "bath time relay". Robin got scared because he didn't understand what they were supposed to do. I must admit it was a little complicated : Frank had to put on a towel, run to the other side of the line, get into a tub, put a shower cap on, Robin had to scrub his back 4 times, rince him 4times, and then they had to run back with the towel… I have no photos since I had to come to the rescue.. its a shame…

the second relay was " rescue your child" : the parents had to spin 4 times before running to the other side of the line to get their child and run back to the other end of the line.

Then it was time for the "wake wake sports class" ( an after school activity) to perform in front of us ( it was a kind of advertisement for that activity).

Tess and Sebastian were the greatest of supporters, at least when Sebastian was not chatting up Amy's grandmother!

the third game was called "flip the disc":  each team had to flip as many discs to their team color in one minute ( we witnessed a lot of cheating from the…. mothers!!!)

Then it was time for Robin's favorite race : the soccer relay, where parent and child had to kick a soccer ball around objects, to the end of the line were they had to score a goal! I was amazed at Robin he was soo good, So was his friends Kosei

For "Grab the treat", the children, had to run up the line with their hands behind their backs, and grab a treat bag with their teeth….

They were able to enjoy the treats ( a yogurt, rice crackers and a donought) sitting in the center of the room (even sebastian had a go!), while the parents did the special relay…

we witnessed some serious running… all the daddys took it very seriously and did well

…but despite Frank and Mathieu's impressive efforts, it was not enough for the blue team to win, and the winner was  the red team.

we had a last dance " hull hull chicken", then we were given medals, and after a last photo, sports day had come to an end… it was12 o'clock.
